The ballroom is illuminated with lights
As it bounces around the walls and floor
Couples arm in arm slow dancing
Looking deep into the eyes of those they adore.
There I am alone in the corner
Watching as the dance goes on
Wondering I will ever find those twinkling eyes to look upon
Holding the one who makes my heart feel warmer.
As time goes on I continue to observe
All the happiness and the smiles of the crowd
I stop to shake my head as my thoughts are too loud
Beginning to wonder if there is someone out there, I deserve.
Suddenly the music slows down
Whispers and turning heads surround me
Lights ascend the stairs like a Christmas tree
Atop the stairs there she stands
The queen of the night, and she doesn’t need a crown.
I look over almost choking back the tears
Holding back the smile that would fill my whole face
Waiting for the day we can hold each other in embrace
Where love takes over, everything else disappears.
The sound of the camera shutters in my mind
Storing this image of you away
On the very day you throw your bouquet
Looking back at our eventful lives
That’s where I would go if I could stop time.
