“Love in the time of Corona”----------------- part 1
WAS HE IN LOVE ?
Behind the pink shades of curtains, the bride and groom were on lightning. But, no, they are not the protagonists of this story. Someone else still waits.
“Chetan kaha hain?” Rohit asked Babu while taking pictures.
‘Naha raha hain ek ghante se sala,’ Babu replied.
‘HAHAHA,’ Rohit laughed with all the noise possible.
After an hour:
Chetan comes down the staircase with his blue suit, black pair of shining shoes, and two red eyes. Why red? Well, you might guess. It’s because of being high, high in love.
As we returned from the market that day, there was a different smell in the atmosphere. For us, it was because, finally, we were in the ceremony to attend the most awaited shadi of our group. But for Chetan, things were not the same. He was feeling the smell of something different yet special and known.
As I was pushing our room door, someone uttered, ‘Can you wait for some time? We are getting ready for the party. She uttered with a sweet voice and humble tone (It was none other than the other half of my story. Her name was ‘Priya.’
Well, Chetan was right there beside me. He saw her through the small gap in the door. I might have just seen her for a minute for the first time. After that, his heart would have started taking different shapes and angles of happiness.
Happiness has got rainbows. Have you ever thought of this? NO.
I have got to experience the shades of rainbows that day.
We all were happy in our world. Babu Bhaiya was delighted with his low-ley lifestyle and swag. Rohit was pleased with his successful outfit of a new blazer and pant combo. Of course, Pj and Bobi, the bride and the groom, were the happiest that day.
But I was wrong. That day, the only person at the top shades of happiness rainbow was Chetan. So why would he not be?
For it was after a long time he was experiencing a kind of love. Love that gives butterflies love that shows you the way, love that makes you vulnerable, love that is toxic and pure, love that drives you crazy, love that hurts and of course, a kind of love that doesn’t last forever.
Why not forever?
Because what is meant to be forever isn’t as fast as you feel the butterflies in your stomach when you meet that person. If it is supposed to be forever, then it should take you slow.
What gets you in a hurry makes you bury your old memories. That’s it.
Well, what’s next in the story?
Chetan came downstairs, holding his breath for a moment. He saw her for the first time incomplete. And boom. Love happened. Really. Maybe?
I was there at the corner of the wedding mandap, sitting with Priya and her friends, having as boring as possible conversations people usually do at a wedding. I never knew how suddenly this happened, and I told Priya that Chetan is admiring her. This is the task of every sister in a marriage to find a girl for her brother. So I did the same and left for drinks.
After around an hour, I saw them making smiles more than talks. But then, when we were leaving home that day, I learned that they are into talking terms now. That made me happy, though.
We were back to our normal lives, days had passed, and thoughts were shared among them. But then I told you, right? Forever doesn’t seem to be so quick and easy. There were issues between them, thoughts that turned to be opposites.
He was sad. This is obvious for him to feel sad that things didn’t work well for them. But then, he must remember her as a good dream to admire.
This is not a love story. This is more like a dream for them. Meeting each other for a night, admiring each other for days and one day when things were getting into line, you woke up. You woke up, and you are back to reality.
Let me tell you. The reality is harsh. Real is tough. Real is toxic. Love is not blind. Love is neither a betrayer. What betrayed you? Is it your expectations? No one else is ever responsible for your sadness.
So my dear fellas, live your life. Fall in love, get drunk but never settle down for something that hurts. Let it go. You know I have got this man in my life- Rohit, and he says- Time heals everything. Yes, it does.
I will be back with another story, another reality and another “I Wish’ moment of life.
